Barry has a strong background in electrical work. He earned the title of Journeyman Electrician in 1993. As a Journeyman, he installed and maintained a wide variety of industrial and commercial electrical equipment, and managed labor production and schedule with clients. After performing as a Journeyman Electrician for nearly 10 years he moved on to become an Educator at The National Electrical Contractor Association & International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Training Center located in Portland, Oregon. As an Educator he developed and instructed National Electrical Code training programs for Journeyman and Apprentice Electricians. After educating for a couple years, he has been the Safety Director for The National Electrical Contractor Association & International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Training Center for the last 10 years. As Safety Director, Barry is responsible for establishing safe work best practices, establishing energized electrical work policies, LOTO training for electrical contractors, and has performed workplace shock and arc flash hazard assessments.

Over the years, Barry has been on many electrical consulting projects. He has worked alongside Bonneville Power Administration, Eugene Water and Electrical Board, and Portland State University- Electrical Maintenance Department. During these consulting projects, Barry evaluates the client’s electrical policies, helps them adopt industry best practices and gives insight from his personal experience.
