Jay Johnson has almost 30 years of experience in the Safety arena while endeavoring in several occupations. He started his professional career as an EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) Technician in the US Army. Mr. Johnson served a total of 13 years in Active, Reserve and National Guard units, almost all in an EOD unit or capacity. During his service, Jay volunteered and completed US Army Airborne School, US Navy Aviator SERE (Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape) School, EOD Nuclear Weapons School and several Advanced EOD Courses.

Besides his military EOD position, Mr. Johnson has worked for over 12 years as a civilian EOD/UXO Tech both domestically and on overseas missions. He gained invaluable experience while leading multi-national teams in the cleanup of Desert Storm battlefields and minefields in Kuwait and Unwanted/Obsolete munitions in Saudi Arabia. The technical expertise and safety awareness that Jay gained in the Middle East led to him being selected for UXO Teams cleaning up battlefields and munitions storage disasters sites for US State Dept. and United Nations programs in El Salvador and Tanzania.

From 1994-2003, Mr. Johnson pursued his lifelong dream to become an Airline Pilot by putting himself through Flight School while also working full time and serving in the National Guard. He spent 3 years as a Flight Instructor, which led to flying for a Charter/Medevac company to flying freight for a FedEx subsidiary and finally to flying a Regional Jet for Air Wisconsin Airlines.

From 2003 to 2013, Mr. Johnson worked for various Environmental/Engineering companies remediating former and active military ranges of Unexploded Ordnance and Dump Sites. He served in Team Leader, QC and Safety Officer positions on at least 20 sites in the US and in Africa. Most of these sites involved heavy equipment for excavation operations, Sifting Machines, HazMat Control and Containment and Explosive Destruction procedures.

From 2008 to 2010, Mr. Johnson served as a TSA Bomb Appraisal Officer at DIA, Denver International Airport. His tenure there included supporting the Protective Detail for the 2008 DNC Convention that selected Obama to be their presidential nominee, responding to over 200 suspected Explosive Item in Baggage Alarms and training the cadre of over 500 TSA Screeners.

Since 2013, Mr. Johnson as worked as a Safety Manager for various sub-contractor. Through the end of 2014, Mr. Johnson was at Intel’s Ronler Acres on the D1X Mod 2 Project and since then at Boeing’s $1 Billion 777X Wing Composite construction site.
