A graduate of Central Washington University, Bachelors of Science in Occupational Safety and Health (1987),

Brian has 7 years’ experience in large lines / multi lines insurance; as well as 17 years as safety director for Regional GC/CM and 13 years as private consultant.

Brian is the Chair of the Industry Advisory Conical for Central Washington University’s Safety Health Management Program. Brian and his wife Betsy established the “Brian and Elizabeth Clarke, ASSE Student Section Endowment at CWU” for the promotion and educational expenses of the student section and advisor.

Brian is a founding/current Board member for the Construction Industry Crime Prevention Program. He has worked in conjunction with fellow safety professionals to establish the Oregon Construction Safety Summit, a monthly forum covering a variety of construction safety issues.

Brian has been a presenter at various PDC’s across the USA and Western Canada. Brian has published various safety related articles.

Brian was awarded the Gary Bird Horizon Award by the International Risk Management Institute in November 2003 for “Excellence in Innovative Risk Management Techniques and Processes in the Construction Industry”.

In 2001 Brian was awarded the “Safety Professional of the Year” award from the ASSE Columbia Willamette Chapter.

In addition, Brian has taught Safety Standards and Law classes for Mt. Hood Community College’s Environmental/Safety Program as well as guest spoke at various universities throughout Washington and Oregon.

Brian is actively involved with the American Society of Safety Engineers. He served on the Board of Directors for the past 4 years (1999 – 2003) as well as various chapter and ROC positions in Sacramento and Portland.
